Kazakhstan is becoming a key logistics hub of Eurasia

Thanks to growing transit volumes and the accelerated development of roads, ports, railways, and aviation infrastructure, the country is transforming the geography of global trade. It is projected that by 2030, transit through Kazakhstan may reach 100 million tons per year.

In the first half of 2025, Kazakhstan’s economic growth amounted to 6%, the highest level in the past 12 years. This growth was driven by sectors such as industry, construction, trade, and especially transport and logistics services. The government views international trade and logistics as key elements of the country’s sustainable development.

In 2024, the volume of transit cargo increased by 7.1%, reaching 34.6 million tons: 27.5 million tons by rail and 6.7 million tons by road. It is forecast that by 2030, these figures will triple.

One of the main drivers of growth is a strategic agreement with China. The plan is to increase the number of block container trains from the current 600 to 3,000 per year by 2029.
