The President sets the task of making Kazakhstan a leading transport and aviation hub of Eurasia
Today, in his annual address to the people of Kazakhstan, President Tokayev set the task of making Kazakhstan a leading transport and aviation hub of Eurasia.
To simplify operations, the government has been instructed to launch by October a unified digital system for customs and logistics - Smart Cargo, which will provide private companies with equal and automated access to infrastructure. Additionally, 42 border checkpoints are being modernized to improve services for carriers and ensure efficient movement of goods through “green corridors.”
In the field of air transport, the President highlighted recent improvements in aviation infrastructure: new terminals in Almaty, Shymkent, and Kyzylorda, as well as ongoing construction of airports in Zaysan, Katon-Karagai, and Kenderli. He emphasized the need to develop not only passenger routes but also the rapidly growing air cargo sector.
The President again instructed to double the volume of processed air cargo by creating a National Cargo Carrier in cooperation with foreign partners. Considering the growth of e-commerce and deliveries of high-tech products, the air freight segment is recognized as particularly profitable. The government must also regulate express delivery services to protect consumer rights.
The President also called on Kazakhstan to introduce unmanned transport technologies, including drones and automated cargo vehicles, and to ensure a regulatory framework for their prompt implementation.
