Freight rates increase: market adapts to new conditions

In Q1 2026, Kazakhstan’s freight market showed mixed tariff dynamics. The most significant growth was recorded in air freight - over 13%, and nearly 19% on international routes.

Road transport, remaining the primary delivery channel, saw moderate growth of around 1%. Meanwhile, sea freight rates declined, making it more attractive for certain cargo types.

What it means for business:

- companies shift from air to more cost-efficient solutions
- growing interest in multimodal logistics
- increasing importance of the Caspian route

The market is moving from simple supply chains to flexible, combined logistics solutions.
